Online tutors in New York
Heights International Academy teaches New York students live online, one-to-one or in small groups, for AP, IB and University subjects. Classes are scheduled in US Eastern Time (EST/EDT); other cities shown in local time, after school and at weekends, fees are shown in USD, and the first class is free.
New York City students attend a mix of public high schools, charter schools, independent schools and a few IB programmes, and many commute by subway or bus to schools outside their own neighbourhood. Adding an in-person tutor across boroughs makes for a long day. Online tutoring lets students work with a specialist from home. New York State students also take Regents exams in core subjects, so tutoring often combines Regents preparation with AP courses and the SAT for college admissions.

Questions from New York families
Do you help with New York Regents exams?
Yes, we help New York students prepare for Regents exams in maths and sciences, including Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II and Chemistry. Tutors work through the content and practise with released Regents questions so students know the format. Tell us which exam and administration your child is sitting.
How much does a tutor cost in New York City?
Tutor costs in New York City vary with the subject, level, tutor experience and whether lessons are in person or online. Our own fees are listed in USD on our pricing page and apply to live online lessons, with no travel time across boroughs. AP and IB lessons sit at a higher price tier.
Is online tutoring better than an in-home tutor in New York?
Online tutoring suits many New York high school students better than an in-home tutor, because nobody has to travel across the city and the choice of specialists is wider. An in-home tutor gives in-person supervision for children who need it. We teach online only and never send tutors to homes.
Can you tutor AP Calculus for New York students?
Yes, we tutor AP Calculus AB and BC for New York students, following the College Board course framework. Tutors focus on the free-response questions where students often lose points, such as justifying answers, and practise with official past questions. Starting in the autumn leaves time for full review before May.
What time are online lessons in New York?
Online lessons for New York students are in Eastern Time, usually from about 4pm to 9pm on weekdays and from morning to late afternoon at weekends. We can add sessions before Regents or AP exams. Exact slots depend on your subject and tutor availability, and we confirm them in advance.
