Safeguarding and online class safety
Last updated:
Heights International Academy's safeguarding policy sets the rules every tutor follows in live online classes: lessons only on our class platform, no private contact with students, parents kept informed and a clear route for raising concerns. This page also gives families a short checklist for keeping any online lesson safe.
Classes happen only on our class platform
Tutors teach only through the class links we provide. They must not contact students through personal social media, private messaging apps or personal phone numbers.
Parents stay informed
Parents can join or sit in on any class, and we communicate about scheduling and progress with parents of students under 18.
Professional conduct
- Cameras on, in a quiet, appropriate setting, for both tutor and student where possible.
- No sharing of personal contact details or social media.
- Respectful language at all times.
- Families can request a female tutor.
What can parents do to keep online lessons safe?
- Set up the device in a shared room rather than a bedroom, with the door open for younger children.
- Join only from the class link we send; never from a link sent to a child privately.
- Check that the name on screen matches the tutor confirmed in our booking message.
- Sit in on the first lesson and look in from time to time afterwards.
- Tell your child they can stop a lesson and come to you at any time if something feels wrong.
What should a tutor never ask a student to do?
A tutor should never ask for a student's personal phone number or social media, suggest meeting in person, ask the student to keep anything secret from their parents, request photos unrelated to schoolwork, or move a lesson to another app. If any of these happens, end the lesson and tell us.
Raising a concern
If anything in a class makes you or your child uncomfortable, tell us straight away on WhatsApp or by email at info@heightsinstitute.com. We take every concern seriously and will respond promptly.
