How do schools and exams work in Saudi Arabia?

Saudi public schools follow the national curriculum set by the Ministry of Education, taught in Arabic. Alongside them, private and international schools licensed by the Ministry teach British, American, IB, Indian, Pakistani and other curricula. Many expatriate families, and a growing number of Saudi families, choose international schools that lead to IGCSE and A Level, an American high school diploma with AP courses, or the IB Diploma.

Pakistani international schools in Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province usually follow the Federal Board (FBISE) for Matric and HSSC, while Indian schools follow CBSE. Students in these schools often want help with the same textbooks and paper patterns used back home, plus extra English and maths support for university entry.

Families in Saudi Arabia frequently relocate between cities or countries, so continuity matters. We teach online only, which means a student who moves from Jeddah to Riyadh, or back to Pakistan, can keep the same tutor and syllabus plan.

Sitting exams

Students at international schools normally sit IGCSE, A Level, IB and AP exams at their own school. Private candidates can register for Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and OxfordAQA exams through the British Council in Saudi Arabia, which accepts entries for the May/June and October/November series. Pakistani-curriculum students sit FBISE exams through their school. SAT and AP test centres are listed on the College Board website.

School calendar

Saudi public schools returned to a two-semester year from 2025–26 after several years of three semesters; private and international schools may choose their own model, and most run from late August to June. Ramadan brings shorter school hours, and many families shift tutoring to the evening. Summers are long and hot, which makes online catch-up popular.

Questions from families in Saudi Arabia

Do you offer online tutoring for international school students in Saudi Arabia?

Yes, we tutor students from British, American, IB and Pakistani-curriculum schools across Saudi Arabia, including Riyadh, Jeddah and the Eastern Province. Lessons are live and online, scheduled in Arabia Standard Time after school or at weekends. Tell us your child's curriculum, grade and subjects, and we will match a tutor who knows that syllabus.

How much does an online tutor cost in Saudi Arabia?

Our online tutoring fees for Saudi Arabia are listed in SAR on our pricing page. The cost depends on the level, such as IGCSE, A Level or IB, whether lessons are one-to-one or in a small group, and how many sessions a week you book. There are no travel charges because every lesson is online.

Are online tutors a good alternative to home tutors in Saudi Arabia?

Yes, online tutors are a good alternative for most secondary students in Saudi Arabia, because they offer a wider choice of specialists and no travel. Home tutors give in-person supervision, which some younger children need. We teach online only and never send tutors to homes; parents can join lessons at any time.

Can my child sit IGCSE or A Level exams as a private candidate in Saudi Arabia?

Yes, private candidates can register for Cambridge, Pearson Edexcel and OxfordAQA exams through the British Council in Saudi Arabia, usually for the May/June and October/November series. Registration is done online, and fees must be paid before entries are confirmed. Check the British Council Saudi Arabia website for deadlines and venues.

What times are classes available in Saudi time?

Classes run in Arabia Standard Time, usually from mid-afternoon to around 9pm on school days and from morning to early evening on Fridays and Saturdays. During Ramadan we can move lessons later, after iftar. Exact slots depend on your subject and tutor availability, and we confirm them before the first lesson.

Do you have tutors for Pakistani families in Saudi Arabia?

Yes, we teach FBISE Matric and HSSC students at Pakistani international schools in Saudi Arabia, as well as Cambridge O and A Level. If you would like a tutor who can explain in Urdu as well as English, tell us when you enquire. We match tutors mainly on subject expertise and experience with your child's syllabus.
