How online classes at Heights work

Online classes at Heights International Academy work in four steps. You tell us the curriculum, exam board and subject; we match a tutor who teaches that exact syllabus in your timezone; your child takes a full free class; and then you choose one-to-one or small-group classes with regular feedback for parents.

What does an online class look like?

Classes are live video lessons on Zoom or Google Meet. The tutor and student share a whiteboard, work through explanations step by step and practise real exam questions, with marks awarded the way the mark scheme awards them.

What do you need for online classes?

  • A laptop or tablet

A phone works in a pinch, but a bigger screen helps with past papers.

  • A steady connection

Home broadband or 4G is enough for a video class.

  • A headset

Clearer sound for both of you, and fewer distractions.

  • A quiet space

Somewhere the student can focus for the full class.

How do parents stay involved?

Parents are welcome to meet the tutor at the start of the trial and to ask about progress at any time on WhatsApp. Tutors share what was covered, what to practise and what comes next.

Classes happen only on our class platform, never through private social media accounts. Read our safeguarding policy for the rules every tutor follows.

Questions about classes

What timings are available for students in the UAE, Saudi Arabia or the UK?

We schedule classes after school and at weekends in your local time. Gulf students usually choose late-afternoon or evening slots in GST or AST, and UK students choose after-school slots in UK time. Tell us your preferred days and times when you book the trial and we match a tutor to them.

How long is each class, and how many classes are there a month?

One-to-one classes last 60 minutes and are booked individually or in monthly packs of 4, 8 or 12. Small-group classes last 75 minutes, with 8 classes per subject per month, usually twice a week, and at most 6 students in a group. Intensive exam preparation is 12 one-to-one classes a month, three a week.

Are classes one-to-one or in groups?

We offer both: one-to-one classes built around a single student, and small-group classes for students on the same syllabus. One-to-one suits students with specific gaps or tight exam dates; groups suit students who want regular, structured teaching at a lower monthly cost.

Can we reschedule a class?

Yes, a one-to-one class can be moved if you tell us at least 24 hours before it starts, and we rebook it with the same tutor where possible. Classes cancelled with less notice may be counted as taken. Group classes run on a fixed timetable, so a student who misses one receives the notes and homework instead.

Do you provide notes and past paper practice?

Yes, tutors share notes after each class and set past-paper questions from your exam board as a regular part of the course. Practice is marked against the official mark scheme, so students learn how marks are awarded, not just the content.

What do we need for online classes?

A laptop or tablet, a stable internet connection and a quiet place are enough. A phone works in a pinch, but a larger screen makes the shared whiteboard and past papers easier to read. A headset with a microphone helps, and a pen tablet is useful for maths.

What happens if the internet or power goes out during a class?

If the connection drops, the tutor waits and the student rejoins as soon as possible. If a class is badly disrupted, we arrange time to make it up. Students in areas with load-shedding often join from a phone on mobile data as a backup.
