Online tutors in Chicago
Heights International Academy teaches Chicago students live online, one-to-one or in small groups, for AP, IB and University subjects. Classes are scheduled in US Eastern Time (EST/EDT); other cities shown in local time, after school and at weekends, fees are shown in USD, and the first class is free.
Chicago students attend Chicago Public Schools, suburban districts, Catholic high schools and independent schools, and many travel across the city on the CTA to reach selective or specialist programmes. After-school tutoring on top of that commute is hard to fit in, especially in winter. Online tutoring brings a specialist to the student instead. Several Chicago-area high schools offer AP and IB programmes, so students often want help with demanding courses such as AP Calculus, AP Chemistry or IB Maths.

Questions from Chicago families
Do you offer online tutoring for Chicago high school students?
Yes, we offer online tutoring for Chicago high school students in maths, physics, chemistry and biology, plus AP courses and SAT prep. Lessons are scheduled in Central Time after school and at weekends. Tell us your child's grade, school programme and courses, and we will match a tutor.
Can you support IB students at Chicago schools?
Yes, we support IB Diploma students at Chicago schools in Maths, sciences, Economics and English, including internal assessments and the extended essay. Tutors follow the current IB subject guides and assessment criteria. Tell us your subjects and whether they are SL or HL, and we will match a tutor with IB experience.
How much does a tutor cost in Chicago?
Tutor costs in Chicago depend on subject, level, tutor experience and format. Our own fees are listed in USD on our pricing page and cover live online lessons with no travel. AP and IB lessons are priced at a higher tier than standard high school courses.
Is online tutoring better than an in-person tutor in Chicago?
Online tutoring is often more practical than an in-person tutor in Chicago, avoiding extra travel in winter and widening the choice of specialists. An in-person tutor gives supervision some younger children need. We teach online only and never send tutors to homes; parents can sit in on lessons.
Can you help with AP Chemistry in Chicago?
Yes, we help Chicago students with AP Chemistry, covering topics such as equilibrium, thermodynamics and kinetics, and the free-response questions that test explanation and calculation together. Tutors use the College Board course framework and official past questions. Starting early in the school year gives time for full review before May.
