Online tutors in Dubai

Heights International Academy teaches Dubai students live online, one-to-one or in small groups, for IGCSE, A Level, GCSE and IB. Classes are scheduled in Gulf Standard Time (GST, UTC+4), after school and at weekends, fees are shown in AED, and the first class is free.

Dubai has a large private-school sector, where most children study British, American, IB or Indian curricula, and families often live far from school. A drive along Sheikh Zayed Road or Al Khail Road after school can take longer than the lesson itself. Online tutoring lets students in Dubai Marina, Al Barsha, Mirdif or Silicon Oasis work with a specialist without that trip. It also keeps lessons consistent for families who travel over the long summer break or relocate within the Gulf.

Where do Dubai students sit their exams?

Exam centres and registration

Most Dubai students sit IGCSE, A Level and IB exams at their own school. Private candidates can register for Cambridge and Pearson Edexcel exams through the British Council, which has an office in Dubai. SAT and AP exams are taken at College Board-authorised schools and test centres; check the College Board website for current Dubai locations.

School calendar

Most Dubai private schools run from late August to early July in three terms, with KHDA publishing the approved calendar each year. Fridays are shorter school days. During Ramadan, KHDA limits school hours, and tutoring often moves to after iftar. Indian-curriculum schools start their academic year in April.

Questions from Dubai families

How much does a private tutor cost in Dubai?

The cost of a private tutor in Dubai depends on the curriculum, the subject level, the tutor's experience and whether lessons are one-to-one or in a group. Home tutoring may also carry travel time. Our fees are listed in AED on our pricing page and apply to live online lessons, so there is no travel cost for Dubai families.

Do private tutors in Dubai need a permit?

Yes, since December 2023 individuals offering private lessons in the UAE can apply for a Private Teacher Work Permit through the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE). If you hire someone directly in Dubai, it is reasonable to ask whether they hold one. We tutor online and do not claim UAE licensing; ask us how our lessons are arranged.

Can you help with IGCSE Maths and Physics for Dubai British schools?

Yes, IGCSE Maths and Physics are among the subjects we teach most often for Dubai students in British-curriculum schools. Tell us whether your school follows Cambridge or Pearson Edexcel, and the tier (Core or Extended, Foundation or Higher). Tutors then work through the specification and past papers, focusing on the topics your child finds hardest.

Is online tutoring better than a home tutor in Dubai?

Online tutoring suits many Dubai families better because it avoids traffic, widens the choice of specialist tutors and fits easily around school activities. A home tutor offers in-person supervision, which some younger children need. We teach online only and never visit homes, and parents can join any lesson to see how it works.

Do you offer weekend tutoring in Dubai?

Yes, we offer weekend lessons on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as Friday afternoons after the shorter school day. Weekend slots are popular for longer past-paper sessions before mocks and final exams. Lessons run in Gulf Standard Time, and we can move them around Ramadan or school trips if you let us know in advance.
