Matric boards: FBISE, Punjab and Karachi

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE) examines students in Islamabad, cantonment and garrison schools, and many Pakistani schools abroad, including in the Gulf. Provincial boards include the Punjab BISEs (such as BISE Lahore), the Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) and the BISEs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Each board sets its own exam papers, dates and paper patterns, though the core subjects are similar. We match tutors to the student's board so practice follows the right format.

Science and Arts groups

Most Matric students choose a Science group, studying Physics and Chemistry with either Biology or Computer Science, alongside compulsory English, Urdu, Mathematics, Islamiyat and Pakistan Studies. The Biology option usually leads to FSc Pre-Medical, and the Computer Science option to ICS or Pre-Engineering. An Arts (Humanities) group is also available.

Matric vs O Level

Both qualifications cover roughly the same stage of school, but Matric is examined by Pakistani boards with an annual exam, while O Level is set by Cambridge International. Students moving from one to the other can do so, though they may need help adjusting to a different question style. IBCC equivalence links O Level results to the Matric system.

When are Matric exams and how are they graded?

  1. Annual exams

Held once a year, usually in spring; results are announced in the summer.

Exact dates are set by each board and vary between FBISE, the Punjab BISEs, BSEK and others.

  2. Supplementary exams

Held later in the year for students improving marks or clearing failed papers.

Some boards call this the second annual exam; check your board's notice for eligibility.

How Matric is graded

Matric results are reported as total marks with a grade or division, based on the Class 9 and Class 10 papers together. The total available marks and grade bands depend on the board and the scheme of studies in force, and the IBCC has been introducing a revised grading scheme across boards. Check your board's latest result notification for the exact scheme.

How does online Matric tutoring work?

We teach Matric subjects online for the Federal Board and provincial boards, following the textbooks and syllabus of the student's own board. Tutors focus on understanding first, so students can handle conceptual and numerical questions, then build exam technique with past papers and model answers in the board's format. Lessons can be in English or a mix of English and Urdu, depending on what helps the student most.
  1. Diagnostic

A short check of what your child already knows against the syllabus.

  2. Topic teaching

Clear explanations on a shared whiteboard, one topic at a time.

  3. Past-paper practice

Exam questions from your board, timed and marked to the mark scheme.

  4. Feedback

What went well, what to fix and what to practise before next class.

Matric tuition suits students in Class 9 and Class 10 who want steady support through the year, students preparing for the annual exams after a weak first term, and Pakistani families in the Gulf whose children attend FBISE-affiliated schools. Lessons are scheduled after school in Pakistan or Gulf time, one-to-one or in small groups, and parents receive regular updates on progress and upcoming tests.

How much does Matric tuition cost?

Group classes are billed monthly; one-to-one classes per class or in monthly packs.

Matric questions parents ask

Do you offer online tuition for 9th and 10th class?

Yes, we offer live online tuition for Class 9 and Class 10 Matric students in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science and English. Lessons follow your own board's syllabus, whether that is FBISE, a Punjab BISE, BSEK or another board, and can be one-to-one or in small groups. Timings are set after school in your local time.

Which boards do you teach for Matric?

We teach Matric students from the Federal Board (FBISE), the Punjab boards such as BISE Lahore, the Board of Secondary Education Karachi and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa boards. Subjects are similar across boards, but paper patterns and textbooks can differ, so we match each student with a tutor who knows their board's format and past papers.

When are Matric exams held?

Matric annual exams are usually held in spring, with results announced in the summer, but each board sets its own dates. Supplementary exams take place later in the year for students who want to improve marks or clear a paper. Always check the date sheet published by your own board for the current year.

Should I choose Biology or Computer Science in Matric?

Choose Biology if you are considering medicine, dentistry or other health sciences, because it leads into FSc Pre-Medical. Choose Computer Science if you are leaning towards engineering, computing or ICS. Both options include Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, so neither closes every door, but the choice shapes the easiest route into Intermediate.

Can Pakistani students in the Gulf take Matric?

Yes, many Pakistani schools in Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain are affiliated with the Federal Board and prepare students for the SSC exams. We teach these students online in Gulf time, following the FBISE syllabus. Fees can be shown in your currency on our pricing page.

Is online tuition effective for Matric students?

Online tuition can work well for Matric students when lessons are live, structured and follow the board syllabus closely. Our tutors share notes and worked examples on screen, set past-paper questions and review mistakes with the student. Parents receive regular updates. A free trial class is the easiest way to see whether the format suits your child.
