Online tutors in Vancouver
Heights International Academy teaches Vancouver students live online, one-to-one or in small groups, for AP, IB, IGCSE and University subjects. Classes are scheduled in Eastern Time (EST/EDT); western cities shown in local time, after school and at weekends, fees are shown in CAD, and the first class is free.
Vancouver students follow the British Columbia curriculum, which leads to the Dogwood Diploma, and some schools in the city and the wider Lower Mainland offer AP courses or the IB Diploma. Many families have links across the Pacific, and some students arrive mid-way through high school from other systems. Online tutoring gives them a specialist without crossing the city's bridges at rush hour. Lessons are scheduled in Pacific Time, three hours behind Toronto.

Where do Vancouver students sit their exams?
Exam centres and registration
BC graduation assessments are taken at school. AP exams are sat in May at schools that offer them, and IB exams at IB World Schools. SAT test centres in the Vancouver area are listed on the College Board website.
School calendar
Vancouver schools run from early September to late June, with a winter break and a two-week spring break in March. Some high schools use semesters or other timetable models, so exam periods vary. Lessons are booked in Pacific Time.
Questions from Vancouver families
Do you tutor BC curriculum courses in Vancouver?
Yes, we tutor Vancouver students in BC curriculum maths, sciences and English, such as Pre-calculus 12 and Chemistry 12, even though we don't publish a separate BC course page. The core content overlaps closely with other systems our tutors teach. Tell us your grade and courses, and we will match a suitable tutor.
What time are lessons for Vancouver students?
Lessons for Vancouver students are scheduled in Pacific Time, usually from about 4pm to 9pm on school days and from morning to late afternoon at weekends. Because Vancouver is three hours behind Toronto, we confirm the slot carefully with you and your tutor before the first lesson.
How much does a tutor cost in Vancouver?
Tutor costs in Vancouver depend on subject, grade, tutor experience and format. Our own fees are listed in CAD on our pricing page and apply to live online lessons with no travel time. AP and IB lessons are priced at a higher tier than Grade 9 and 10 courses.
Can you help with AP Calculus or IB Maths in Vancouver?
Yes, we help Vancouver students with AP Calculus AB and BC, and with IB Maths Analysis and Approaches or Applications and Interpretation at SL and HL. Tutors work from the College Board course framework or the IB subject guide and use official past questions. Tell us your exam date and current level.
Is online tutoring a good alternative to an in-person tutor in Vancouver?
Yes, online tutoring is a good alternative for most Vancouver high school students, offering specialist tutors without travel across the Lower Mainland. An in-person tutor suits children who need someone in the room. We teach online only and never send tutors to homes.
