IGCSE grade thresholds: June 2026
IGCSE grade thresholds are the minimum marks Cambridge International sets for each grade in a single exam series. In June 2026, the A* threshold for the syllabuses below ranged from 78% to 89% of the maximum mark, so no grade has a fixed percentage. Every figure links to its official PDF.

How do you read a IGCSE grade threshold table?
Find your syllabus code and the combination of components you sat, then compare your total weighted mark with the minimum mark for each grade. The highest grade whose threshold you reach is your grade. Thresholds are set for the whole qualification; individual papers do not have an A*.
- Figures are for the June 2026 exam series only. Cambridge sets thresholds afresh for every series, so they change from series to series.
- Syllabus grade thresholds are the minimum marks required for each grade, determined from the weighted component thresholds for the listed combination of components. Marks are out of the 'maximum weighted mark' printed in the official table.
- Grade A* does not exist at the level of an individual component.
- Where an entry option offers more than one route to a grade, candidates are awarded the best grade available to them based on the combination of components they took.
- Percentage uniform marks (PUMs) shown on some Statements of Results are not raw/weighted marks and cannot be compared with these thresholds.
- Extended combinations can be awarded A* to E (the official table also prints F and G thresholds for them, reproduced here). Core combinations can be awarded at most grade C; the official table shows '–' for A*, A and B.
- Only a selection of component combinations is shown; check the official PDF for the combination (zone) your candidate sat.
How should you use past thresholds in revision?
Mark a full past paper, convert your score with that series' table, and aim a comfortable margin above the boundary you want, because the thresholds for your own series are unknown until results day. Our guide What percentage is an A* at O Level and A Level? explains the A* rules in detail, and the past papers guide lists the official sources for papers and mark schemes.

IGCSE grade threshold questions
What percentage is an A* in IGCSE?
There is no fixed percentage for an A* in IGCSE. Cambridge sets new thresholds for every syllabus and component combination each series. In June 2026, the A* thresholds in the table above ranged from 78% to 89% of the maximum mark. Check your exact syllabus code and components in the official PDF.
When are IGCSE grade thresholds published?
Cambridge International publishes grade threshold tables on results day for each series: mid-August for the June series and January for the November series. Each table applies only to that series, so last year's thresholds are a guide for revision, not a prediction of the next series.
Why do grade thresholds change every series?
Grade thresholds change because question papers differ slightly in difficulty from one series to the next. Cambridge sets the boundaries after marking so that a grade represents the same standard every year: if a paper was harder, the marks needed usually fall; if it was easier, they rise.
Why are there several rows for the same syllabus?
Several rows appear because candidates in different administrative zones sit different variants of the papers (for example components 12, 22 or 13, 23), and each combination has its own thresholds. Your Statement of Entry or school exams officer can tell you which components you took.
Can I compare PUM percentages on my results with these thresholds?
No. Percentage uniform marks (PUMs) shown on some Statements of Results are a scaled score, not your raw or weighted mark, so they cannot be compared directly with the thresholds on this page. Use the raw marks from past papers and the official threshold table for the same series.
